Niacet’s technical acetates are widely used in a number of different industries and for various applications. Our acetates are used in many industrial applications. Their main effect is pH adjustment, crystallization aid, or as a catalyst or reagent. Niacet’s ingredients are used in resins, coatings, detergents, dyes, heat packs, carbon black, drilling fluids, ceramics, leather tanning, fire extinguishers, polymers, carpet backing, textile dyeing and conditioning, photography, lubricants, anti-freeze, and personal hygiene products, to mention just a few applications. Potassium Acetate is used as a catalyst in the PTA (Purified Terephthalic Acid) which is a raw material used in making high-performance multi-purpose plastics such as PBT, PET, etc. Potassium Acetate is also used in the production of VAM (Vinyl Acetate Monomer) which is used in making PVC. Potassium Acetate is also used in the carbon black production, as a drilling fluid additive, as a flame retardant, in the production of polyurethane foam and as a polymerization catalyst.

Potassium Acetate in diabetes treatment Diabetes is one of the most common non-infectious diseases; it develops when the pancreas produces little or no insulin (type 1), or when the body cannot effectively use the insulin it produces (type 2). Diabetes is considered one of the leading causes of death in most developed countries and is growing into an epidemic in many developing and newly industrialized nations. Pharma acetates Niacet’s acetates, mainly sodium acetate but also ammonium acetate, potassium acetate, and zinc acetate are used in the production of insulin. Additionally, as a constituent in insulin products, sodium acetate acts as an oxidative fuel preventing the body from producing antibodies during insulin injection.

Product grades
Potassium Acetate is available in pharmaceutical, very pure and technical grades.

Stability
Stable for 3 years from the date of production. Physical stability and appearance may change before the end of shelf-life if not stored single-stacked in its well-closed original packaging, dry and at room temperature. Potassium Acetate is very hygroscopic.

Handling
Product has no classification. Always check the Safety Data Sheet and label before using the product.

Packaging
Depending on product form in 25 kg polyethylene lined paper bags or 500 kg big bags.
