Niacet Tiel opens doors for Girlsday 2014 – April 24, 2014
On Thursday April 24th the Niacet site in Tiel opened her doors for Girlsday 2014. Several employees, mostly women, welcomed a group of 28 girls in the age 10-12 years.
The afternoon started with a welcome in the canteen and a short presentation about Niacet, our products and processes. All to show the girls some things you can do with technique and maybe interest them to go for a technical education.
After the introduction the group was split in 4 smaller groups. Once they were all set up with the necessary protective equipment (coat, helmet and goggles) they were ready to tour the site.
The girls could participate in some simple chemistry experiments and during their visit of the laboratory they could learn how a microscope works. They visited the warehouse and one of the production departments, where they could see the automated packaging line. In the maintenance department they could try to make electricity from lemons with some simple chemistry and a few items as copper coins, a small piece of zinc and some electricity cable. If performed well they could make a bulb burn.
Before they all went home the girls all received a Niacet bag with some small presents.
It was the first time the Tiel site participated Girlsday, but a very positive experience and we will certainly consider to participate again next year.
