Girlsday 2015 at Niacet site Tiel a success – April 23, 2015
On Thursday April 23th the Niacet site in Tiel opened her doors for Girlsday 2015. Several employees, mostly women, welcomed a group of 31 girls in the age 12-14 years.
It was the second time that Niacet participated in Girlsday. Like last year we hope we inspired the young girls to choose a technical education.
The visit started with a short presentation about Niacet, our products and processes.
After the introduction the group was split in 4 smaller groups. Once they were all set up with the necessary protective equipment (coat, helmet and goggles) they were ready to tour the site.
The girls could participate in some tasting and simple chemistry experiments and during their visit of the laboratory they could learn how a microscope works. They visited the warehouse and one of the production departments, where they could see the automated packaging line. In the maintenance department they could try to make electricity from lemons with some simple chemistry and a few items as copper coins, a small piece of zinc and some electricity cable. If performed well they could make a bulb burn.
During the breaks there was a contest with a electronic dexterity challenge. The girl that completed the challenge fastest received a prize, a Lego scientific lab.
Before they went home the girls all received a Niacet bag with some small presents.
